If you need a list of your locations, it can easily be done by using the Export Records tool. You can export your records to a comma separated values (CVS) file which is perfect for importing into MS Excel for viewing, sharing or printing. This tool will also make a backup copy of your export in the /dbackup directory so that you may import this exact list at any time later on.
On the navigation menu, click the link that says "Export Records" to bring up the export selection screen.
Begin Export:
Your first screen of the export process will be a confirmation screen. Simply click on the "Begin Export of Locations" button to begin the process.
Export Complete:
After the Export process has completed, you will be given a chance to download the CVS file to your computer. At this point, the Export process has created a new file inside your /dbackup directory. The new file can be used for the import process at a later time. You will also see a link on this page that will allow you to download your export file to your computer. Click the link to download the file.
After clicking the link for the download, you should be prompted to save or open the file. Choose the "Save" option and save the file to your computer.
You should now have a new file saved to your computer with a name similar to Locatons_date.csv
MS Excel & Zip Codes: TIP!
When opening your locations.csv file in MS Excel, you should use caution, as Excel will strip all leading zeros in your zip code field. If you have a zip code that looks like '01234', Excel will remove the leading zero by default and simply display '1234' in the field.
The quickest way to fix this problem is to open the file in MS Excel, then select the entire zip code column by clicking on the column letter G. This will select the entire column for the zip code field. Then right-click to bring up the context menu.
Choose the "Format Cell..." option to bring up the Format Cells options window. Chose "Custom" from the 'Category' list then scroll all the way down until you see the '00000' choice in the 'Type' window:
Make sure that you have 5 zeros typed in the box provided. Then click ok. This process should make all zip codes 5 digits in length, thus replacing the missing leading zeros.
To avoid this problem interfering with your locator, we recommend that you always import the default files that are on your server. Only import locations that are on your computer, after you have confirmed that leading zeros are not missing in your zip code field.
